Lena Beck Rørvig
My mantra in life is that I want to have fun while working and love what I do. That has led me to some incredible jobs and some not so incredible. Through it all, I have strived to be happy in ‘the now’ regardless of what has come my way and do my utmost to deliver innovative and high-quality work.
My professional journey
Alongside my studies at Copenhagen Business School, I worked in stockbroking as an investment adviser. I continued to do so a few years after I finished my MSc. Economies. During that period I worked in London twice. I dreamt about working in real estate so during my last period of living in London I was offered a job at a real estate agent in the highly prestigious area of London: Knightsbridge. Learning about real estate, the in´s and out´s of the business was incredibly fun and educational.
Copenhagen called, and I left London to start as an Executive Assistant in the world’s oldest TV-& Film Production Company which turned out to be a much more fantastic career move than I had anticipated. I was trusted with all kinds of projects beyond the actual job description – focusing on expanding the business in the Nordic countries.
Human Resource was not even on the radar when I began at that company but they wanted to focus on people development to make their employees thrive, and I became responsible for starting up projects within this area. And I fell in love. Making people perform became a passion of mine and still is. I spent my evenings and weekends attending courses and classes about human resources and people development at Copenhagen Business School to educate myself.
My next opportunity came along when an IT company was looking for an HR Manager – a position where I was given carte blanche to create a culture and leadership style from scratch, which was a great challenge. The first couple of months was a bumpy ride. Everything was new. It was my first time working in a start-up company, and I was the only expert in the human resources area. After a few months – where I felt I resembled a duck: calm on the surface, paddling like crazy under the surface – I started to gain confidence and find my feet. Those five years of establishing an inclusive, multinational culture with offices in eight countries were nothing short of fantastic! Unfortunately, the IT bubble burst and we did too, but oh what a ride!
Next opportunity was another global company, who had just acquired a company of the same size as themselves. They needed to establish a global HR unit to help ensure that the two companies successfully integrated the disparate cultures, re-aligned leadership teams and implemented the right tools for collaboration across the business lines and cultures.
Over the five years, I was in charge of HR worldwide we transitioned the company to a multinational corporation with a global company culture across offices and locations throughout Europe, North America, China, and Malaysia.
To learn and educate myself is a hobby of mine. Something that makes me happy. During those years I attended Executive Management courses on INSEAD in France and Singapore – and I attended Henley Business School in England where I earned a coaching degree and a team coaching degree.
Then something happened that I had never thought was for me. I wanted to become an entrepreneur! Studying to become a coach it never dawned on me that I should make it my full-time profession but when I discovered how powerful a tool coaching is when executed professionally and properly it became apparent to me this was my way forward.
In 2008 I established my business based on the two aspects of my career that I love the most: coaching and leadership development and even though being an entrepreneur means there are ups and downs I love every single day, and I get excited for each client that I help succeed.
Show Your Worth®
Working with talented and amazing women has shown me that there are quite a few topics that are similar from woman to woman. Such as the tendency not to put yourself forward, to wait for others to provide the opportunity for you to be promoted to the fun and prestigious jobs and projects, not negoatiating and asking for a payrise and benefits are a few of the topics many talented women around the world struggle with.
Show Your Worth® is a business model that I created based on not only my extensive experience worldwide but also from the numerous hours of research that I have done. Show Your Worth® works specifically with issues relevant to making sure that women succeed and have the tools to pursue leadership positions.
My dream is a workplace where the only thing that matters is our merits and our performances, and I will use all of my knowledge and tools and whatever is in my power to help us all reach that goal together!
I look forward to work with you and never hesitate to contact me!
